Julie Mills - Head of Centre

Hello, my name is Julie Mills and I am the Head of Centre. My background is in education but I strongly believe in multi-agency working. I have responsibility for the strategic and financial leadership of the centre. I work very closely with Mandy, Centre Manager and I am always interested in your views and ideas to improve the services we offer. I look forward to seeing you in the Children's Centre.

 

Mandy White - Children's Centre Manager

Hi my name is Mandy White and I am the Children's Centre Manager. I have a background in Early Years and family support and have worked for Wakefield Council for 30 years. I have responsibility for the day to day running of the centre and supporting the Children's Centre team to deliver the best possible services to you. I am always interested to hear views, ideas and any suggestions from you that could improve the services that we offer. I look forward to seeing you at the Centre. 

 

Lindsey Williamson - Parent Involvement Worker 

Hi my name is Lindsey and I'm the Children's Centre Administrator. My role is to support the Children's Centre team and deal with the general administration and finances of the Children's Centre. You will usually find me in the office at the back of reception although sometimes you will find me leading an Infant Massage class as I am a CIMI (Certified Infant Massage Instructor).

 

Zara Winter - Children's Centre Administrator 

Hello my name is Zara Winter, I am new to Children's Centre Administration as I used to be a Childcare Officer here at the centre. My main duties are to give admin support to the Teams within the Centre, reception duties, meeting and greeting, dealing with everyday enquiries and assisting with the smooth running of the Centre.

 

Reshma Salam - Parent Support Worker

My name is Reshma and I am a Parent Support Worker at Pinmoor Children Centre. My role within the team is to offer one to one support to parents and children who have general support needs. I am also responsible for providing weekly play session on an outreach basis at Angel Lodge and I help facilitate and support a variety of groups within the Centre. In addition I also signpost families to different agencies depending on their individual needs, i.e., Jobcentre, Open Door Project, Home Start, Stop Smoking Service, Health services etc.

Sharron Hargreaves - Parent Support Worker

My name is Sharron Hargreaves and I am a Parent Support Worker for Pinmoor Children's Centre. I work supporting families on one to one basis. I am also involved in delivering some of the groups we run at the centre and signpost families to different services to help them improve their quality of life in the family as well in the community.

 

Adila Rao - Parent Support Worker

My name is Adila Rao and I am a Parent Support Worker at Pinmoor Children's Centre. I work with families and children offering one-to-one support. I am also involved with the delivery of some of the sessions at the centre for example Baby Start which is offered to first time parents covering a different subject each week. I am also a Certified Infant Massage Instructor (CIMI) and I am involved within the delivery of Baby Massage Sessions. I look forward to seeing you at the centre.

 

Frankie Townsley - Parent Support Advisor

My name is Frankie Townsley and I am a  Parent Support Adviser.

Parent Support Advisers are here to support you and your children to get the best from school by providing support, advice and information. I can help you with any worries you may have about your child's behaviour or attendance and provide support on how best to deal with it.

I am able to support families with children aged 5 to 11 and who attend the following schools.

  • Pinders Primary School
  • Greenhill J I and Nursery School
  • Heath View Community Primary
  • St. Mary's C E Primary School.

 

Shada Hussain - Area Parent Support Worker

My name is Shada Hussain and I am an area parent support worker based at Pinmoor Children's Centre. I also cover other Children's Centres in the Wakefield central area. Within this I offer one-to-one support to parents and children with their general support needs and sign post them to the relevant agencies. Furthermore, I support cookery sessions and Healthy Changes for Life groups. I also link into other groups like Men Behaving Dadly and Speech and Language Drop in whenever required.

 

 Tahira Sharif - Childcare Leader

Hello I'm Tahira Sharif the Childcare Leader. In my role as childcare leader I coordinate the childcare team consisting of three childcare officers. I work closely with St Swithun's neighbourhood nursery and I coordinate respite childcare. I am responsible for helping to ensure that the services delivered by the children centre specially the childcare team meet the core objectives of supporting children and families. I am involved in delivering the parenting programme that runs from the centre. I also run and facilitate parent and toddler groups, special needs support group.

 

Other members of staff you may meet

Within the Children's Centre we have a number of staff members who are based at the Centre who work for other services within the Wakefield District for example, Local Midwives, Health Visitors and Speech and language therapists.

 Ros Lund - Councillor

Hello I'm Ros Lund Councillor for the Wakefield East District. I have a surgery at the Children's Centre every 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month 1:00 - 2:00pm. I give advice and information regarding any council related issues. If you would like to see me please drop in.

Renee Hodges - Speech and Language Therapist

My name is Renee and I am a Speech and Language Therapist. I am based at Pinmoor Children's Centre but my role is to support all the Children's Centres in the Central Wakefield Area.  Here are some of the things I do:

  • Co-ordinate the Speech and Language Therapy Drop-In sessions at Castle Children's Centre (last Wed of month 9-11.30 a.m).
  • Manage a small caseload of children aged under 3 1/2 through home visits.
  • Training in speech and language for Children's Centre and Early Years staff.
  • Deliver a Language Group for Parents and Children.
  • Available as a general resource on issues relating to Speech, Language and Communication for parents and Children's Centre staff.

I can be contacted directly through the Centre on Wednesday and Thursday (all day) and Friday (a.m. only).
