Sensory Room
What is a Multi-Sensory
Over recent months we have
been developing and equipping our sensory room to provide a space
for families, children and young people to engage their senses in
an exciting environment and to promote feelings of emotional
closeness as well as relaxation and fun.
A multi-sensory environment
is a dedicated room/space designed to block out noise, control
space and lighting. It is an artificially created venue that uses
multi-sensory equipment to stimulate the senses and promote
feelings of wellbeing. Time spent in a sensory room has shown to
have increased concentration, alertness, calmness and general
awareness of the surrounding world.
We have designed our room to
be a place of relaxation and fun for all the family. There are
various lighting and sound effects, fibre optic multi-coloured
strands and a bubble tube, and mirror ball which all help to
enhance the experiences of children.
