Bookworms Library
Bookworms Library
Here at the Children's Centre we
have our very own library of books which are available for all of
our families to borrow. 'Bookworms Library' is an early years
library specifically aimed at pre school children and their parents
and carers, to establish a love of books and stories at the
earliest age and encourage early learning and literacy, in a
welcoming and friendly environment.
So why not come along to the
Children's Centre and browse through our wide selection of books
not only for children, but there are a selection of books for
parents to borrow relating to different topics such as parenting,
weaning and potty training.
If you have any further questions please contact us for more
information.
Fun with Reading
The Bookstart
Scheme
The Bookstart scheme
aims to promote a life-long love of books and is based on the
principle that every child in the UK should enjoy and benefit from
books from as early an age as possible.
How will
it benefit children?
Sharing books with babies and toddlers is a wonderful way
to increase language skills and helps children to understand their
world.
The first
five years are the best time for learning to talk and most of a
child's language comes from the adults around them. Babies and
toddlers who love books begin reading sooner and have a better
chance at school.
Three
different packs of books are available for children between the
ages of 7 months through to three year olds. These are FREE
and include guidance materials for parents and
carers.
Contact us, the Library or your Health Visitor for more
information on the Bookstart scheme.
